Finally! New kitchen curtains! When we moved in, we wanted a warm kitchen that could be more homey than the other rooms in the house; the kitchen could be mid-century, but not necessarily modern. We put up sheers and tried to find some cozy kitchen valances, but could find absolutely none that brought up the image of grannie’s kitchen from the 40’s. We settled on some black and white toile that at least reflected the b/w tile and flooring, but it always felt a little too….formal…french….not quite right.
Now we have learned to make our own, so we went to Stone Mountain fabric in Berkeley and found this great fabric. Here are some pics….
It's the perfect color combo; off-white with soft aqua with rusty red; looks great against our yellow walls. The pattern is perfect too; a hint of modern, abstract patter; red dots inside white ovals on a aqua background, and if you think of it, they look like eggs; perfect!
The whole room seems brighter, more like a kitchen where you would steal a fresh cookie than where you would spot Martha Stewart.
